PAUL PELOSO MD

MEMBER, Scientific Secretariat, The Bone and Joint Task force on Neck Pain and Its Associated Disorders


Dr. Paul Peloso obtained his MD from the University of Calgary, Canada with further training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He holds Canadian and American certification in both areas. He completed a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto, and was a research scholar of the Canadian Arthritis Society and the Ontario Workers Compensation Institute. He was on the scientific secretariat of the WHO sponsored Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force. He has had a long standing clinical and research interest in neck pain, co-authoring a 1996 metaanalysis on treatments for neck pain (British Medical Journal, 1996), with continuing publications as part of the Cervical Overview Group, McMaster University, under the Cochrane Collaboration framework, with the a recent publication on medicinal and injection therapies in 2006 (J. Rheumatology) . His interest in pain research includes investigations and publications in osteoarthritis, chronic wide spread pain, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and low back pain where he has evaluated both medicinal and non-medicinal therapies. A recognized expert in randomized controlled trials, research synthesis and metaanalysis, Dr Peloso has authored or co-authored more than 300 publications including original manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters and technical reports.
